The project I am proposing is the following:

I will build a shed on the land of my parents.

I will live in this shed for 11 months.

I will start a vegetable garden.

I will get all my food from within a 10 mile radius.

I will know who grew or gathered my food.

I will not use my phone.

I will exclusively use my computer to visit my own website.

I will not use any electronic devices myself, aside from my computer and power tools.

I will neither heat nor cool the shed centrally.

I will heat or cool my body as needed.

I will not use electronic appliances to prepare my food.

I will create a website with a public schedule, a video chat tool and a live stream.

I will pay someone to work on publicity for my website and this project online.

I will set up a camera to record the shed, and live stream this footage 24/7.

I will not always physically be in the shed.

I will set up a camera to record the garden, and live stream this footage 24/7.

I will not always physically be in either the shed or the garden.

I will only walk or bike.

I will spend 5 hours per day offering my time to talk to people, in the shed.

I will talk to people either in person or per video chat.

I will talk to people for up to one hour per day.

I will explicitly state that this time can be used for tutoring.

I will monologue if there is no other person on the video chat.

I will spend 3 hours per day reading, in the shed.

I will only read books which are gifted to me.

I will spend 5 hours per day on health and hygiene.

I will construct and maintain one guest lodge during the winter months.

I will invite anyone to stay in the guest lodge, if they follow the rules above this line.

I will spend 1 hour per day offering a more formally structured “class,” in the shed.

I will broadcast this class using the video chat tool as well as the live stream.

I will never offer the exact same class twice.

I will spend 9 hours per day in bed, in the shed.

I will spend 1 hour per day exploring intimacy.

I will live in the shed, without any of the above rules, for 1 month directly following the previous 11 months, and during this time I will create a 24-hour performance work, to be performed on the last day of the month, which may be attended in person and will also be broadcast online.

After leaving the shed, I will take 1 month to:
  • compile every note I wrote during the project, and turn this into a book
  • compile a bibliography from all of the books I read during the project, and turn this into a book
  • create pdf versions of the above books, and make them publicly available on my website
  • deconstruct the shed, auction off the materials, and donate the funds to a housing nonprofit of the buyer’s choice
  • donate any remaining time to friends whom I’ve grown out of touch with, and create a personal journal to reflect on related social anxieties and share this in a book format
